Course Summary

This course focuses on the basic requirements of ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2016, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality. The course covers the scope, application and multiple compliance paths available in the standard including the ventilation rate procedure, indoor air quality procedure, and natural ventilation procedure. Many of the standard's general requirements apply regardless of the procedure used. The different application conditions for the ventilation rate procedure are also described. In the 2016 version, changes were made affecting residential scope, demand control ventilation, IAQ procedure, and some ventilation rates. This course is highly recommended for all HVAC, Sustainability, Health and Wellness industry professionals.

Hoy Bohanon, P.E., LEED AP, Life Member ASHRAE

Hoy Bohanon is president of Hoy Bohanon Engineering, PLLC. Mr. Bohanon began his engineering career as a research and design engineer, then gained experience as a project engineer, facilities engineer, facilities manager, indoor air quality research engineer, environmental engineer, and business owner. He has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master's degree in engineering from North Caroline State University.

Mr. Bohanon has written technical papers and articles on indoor air quality, operations, and maintenance and is very active in ASHRAE. He is past Chair of ASHRAE SSPC 62.1 and the Building Energy Quotient Committee. He currently serves as a member SSPC 62.2 of ISO-TC 205, and a corresponding member of Technical Committee 5.5 and 9.10. He is an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, writes and teaches courses for the ASHRAE Learning Institute, and is a recipient of the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award.

Course Materials and CE Credits

This course will be presented through the GoToWebinar platform. Course registrants will receive a confirmation e-mail with instructions on how to login to the course and how to obtain the course materials. The course presentation will be made available approximately five days prior to the course date. Attendees will receive 3 hour online course, copy of presentation and 3 month access to recorded version.

ASHRAE is an approved Continuing Education provider for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). Electronic copies of the course evaluation form and Certificates of Attendance referencing Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be made available to the course attendees.
