Special Notice: Attention Student Members
As the theme of this dinner meeting is Student Promotion Night, ASHRAE Toronto Chapter would like to extend this notice of meeting to all interested college and university students. Students can register for this event at a discounted rate of $20-$25 and an ASHRAE membership (both Society and Chapter) is not required for students to attend. However, registration is still required and no walk-in registrations will be permitted.
SENECA COLLEGE CENTRE FOR INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The Seneca College Centre for Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship is a five-storey, 274,000 square foot addition on the post-secondary institution’s Newnham Campus. This $85-million project features spaces which accommodate both student and business-led activities, including a large atrium for events, specialized lab spaces, classrooms, and a variety of collaboration spaces. Prioritizing flexibility and energy efficiency, the building was designed to achieve LEED Gold and includes such features as decoupled HVAC systems, ultra high efficiency condensing water boilers, and magnetic bearing chillers.
Erich Hoyle P.Eng., B.A.Sc., LEED Green Associate
Project Manager, Smith + Andersen
Erich graduated in 2012 from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in mechanical engineering, joining Smith + Andersen that same year. Since that time, Erich has gained extensive mechanical experience on a variety of project types, lending his expertise to significant community-centric institutional and commercial developments across the GTA. Erich’s technical proficiency as a mechanical designer has contributed to the delivery of award-winning DBFM projects across Ontario, including Bridgepoint Active Healthcare and Humber River Hospital in Toronto, as well as Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness in Brampton. As the Mechanical Project Manager for Seneca College’s Centre for Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, Erich reviewed and managed the design in the context of the construction budget, supporting the client’s goals and introducing opportunities for innovation.
Alex Du B.A.Sc., LEED Green AssociateDesigner, Smith + Andersen
With a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Toronto, and experience working on various healthcare and institutional projects, Alex has gained expertise in multiple aspects of mechanical design, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty laboratory systems. First joining Smith + Andersen in 2014 as a co-op student, Alex returned following graduation and immediately began gaining experience in the education and healthcare sectors. Alex’ mechanical design work has contributed to the success of award-winning DBFM projects, such as Humber River Hospital in Toronto, Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness in Brampton, and Milton District Hospital Redevelopment. As the Mechanical Designer for Seneca College’s Centre for Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, Alex performed detailed mechanical design work on a daily basis, reviewing client requirements, developing models, and testing and adjusting to create a comfortable, flexible, and innovative learning centre.
Amy Su B.A.Sc., LEED Green Associate
Sustainability Specialist, Footprint
Amy graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. After successfully completing several co-op terms as a junior sustainability specialist, Amy returned to Footprint full time following graduation. Amy has established a substantial skill set as an energy modeler, earning a reputation as a highly detail-oriented professional who has a clear understanding of and passion for the sustainable building consulting industry. A committed member of the Footprint team, Amy’s expertise has been applied to significant, sustainable developments across the country, including the University of Manitoba Centre for Advancement of Teaching and Learning and the John Deutsch University Centre redevelopment at Queen’s University. In the GTA, Amy is currently providing sustainability expertise on such developments as Trinity College’s new student residence, Cadillac Fairview’s 160 Front Street West office development, and the SickKids Patient Support Centre. As a Sustainability Specialist for Seneca College’s Centre for Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, Amy provided production support to the project manager, performing energy modelling that would ultimately support the project team’s LEED Gold submission.

Dinner will consist of Food Stations (Buffet) starting at 6:30pm.
Cash bar will be open from 5:00pm to 9:00pm
